About:
Meet Andrew Healan
Andrew Healan grew up in the small Georgia town of Winder.
He worked his way through the University of Georgia in downtown Athens bars. While occasionally attending classes for one of his 12 different majors, he also padded his income by working at the student run newspaper The Red & Black, running political campaigns and telemarketing.
After a lifetime of enjoying stand-up, Healan decided to try his hand at performing. He quickly found his voice and an audience. Over the next few years, he sold out venues all over town. Taking advantage of Athens renowned music scene, he opened for some of the most talented and recognized bands in the world.
After a few years playing at corporate events, social functions and colleges all around the South, Healan took some time away from the stage to focus on his business interests. After a bad run with his entrepreneurial endeavors, he decided to move to New Orleans where he worked on Bourbon Street.
While in the Crescent City, he rediscovered his love of stand-up. On August 29, 2005, hurricane Katrina struck the Gulf Coast and changed millions of lives. Healan returned to the City That Care Forgot a few weeks later. After months of being homeless, he threw the remainder of his possessions in storage, packed his car and took off on a months long road trip across North America. Along the way, he decided to scrap his business plans and relocate to Los Angeles to further his career in comedy, reignite his career in acting and jump start his career in screenwriting.
